Cumin beef is a flavorful dish that goes really well with rice or noodles. In this case I served the beef with brown rice and sautéed broccoli with red onions. In the directions you will see that I recommend marinating the beef for a while, if you don't have time for this, you can skip this step, and it won't change the recipe completely. I bought the meat already sliced, this cut of meat can be found in Asian markets, I found it at Trader Joe's. You can also change the recipe a bit and use ground beef. With the leftovers I made fried rice mixing the meat, rice and vegetables, the next day we ate it for lunch. When you cook this recipe let me know how it went, what type of beef cut you used and what you served it with.
Serves: 2 to 3 people Prep time: 15 mins Cooking time: 10 to 30 mins
Ingredients:
Marinade:
1 to 1.5 pounds of sliced beef or ground beef
3 tablespoons of soy sauce or tamari
1 teaspoon of grated ginger
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper
Rest of ingredients:
1 tablespoon cumin
A dash of coconut aminos
Soy sauce or tamari to taste
Chopped cilantro
Directions:
In a bowl mix all the marinade ingredients
If you have time, marinade for about 20 to 30 minutes, otherwise skip this step
Heat a frying pan or wok with oil
Sauté the beef until browned
Add the rest of the ingredients, cook for a few minutes.
If you are going to make a lot of meat or your pan/wok is small, sauté in batches
Sauté some of the meat first and when it gets a good color transfer it to a plate, repeat the same procedure with the rest of the beef
Then transfer to the pan and add the rest of the ingredients, cook/heat for a few minutes
Serve with some fresh cilantro and your favorite hot sauce.
