Flavorful tofu bites that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect for a meal any day of the week or serve as a finger food at your next party. The breading for this recipe can be made with a milk substitute for a vegan version or with egg for a vegetarian version.
Serve: 3/4 Prep time: 30/40 mins Cook time: 15 mins Total time: around an hour
Ingredients:
1 14 oz box of tofu extra firm or firm
2 cups panko bread crumbs
Butter or olive oil
1 to 1 ½ C milk substitute or 2 eggs
1 cup flour
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon dried herds, i used dried parsley
Salt
Pepper
Directions:
Toast the panko with olive oil or butter, I recommend doing this in low heat and stir constantly.
Press tofu for 30 mins and cut into bite size
If you don't have the 30 mins like me, just pat dry well with paper towels and cut into bite size
You are going to need 3 bowls:
Coating: Toss tofu bites in the flour, then submerge in the milk and lastly toss in the panko bread crumbs bowl
Place on a baking sheet
Bake at 400 or air fryer until you get a nice golden brown color
Eat with your favorite dipping sauce!
Tips:
I suggest toasting the panko bread crumbs with butter or olive oil before breading the tofu, this would add flavor to the breading and a nicer color after baking or air frying.
